Raulandsgrenda – a breathtakingly beautiful part of Norway

You can experience countless wonderful year-round experiences with family and friends here. Rauland is a stunning part of Norway, made to be enjoyed – whether on skis or with other outdoor gear.

Raulandsgrenda offers the freedom and experiences you’re looking for to escape the stress of everyday life. We've built in an area perfectly suited for combining water and mountains – so you have a place to enjoy and feel at home, 365 days a year.

In the heart of historic Rauland lies sunny Raulandsgrend, just 600 meters from Raulandsfjell Alpine Center and Raulandsfjell Hotel. From the cabin, it's only a four-minute walk to Totak – a large, idyllic mountain lake. A scenic gem offering a wealth of activities and numerous charming swimming spots. The lake stretches about 25 km long and up to 5 km wide. Along its shores are beautiful hiking trails – truly an all-year-round paradise for both young and old.

The area is perfect for all generations, regardless of age.

You can choose hiking routes that are gently hilly, steep and challenging – or completely flat and scenic. It’s up to you!

In winter, a free shuttle bus runs between the ski centers in Rauland. You’ll find off-piste skiing, half-pipes, Norway’s largest toboggan run, restaurants, après-ski, evening events, and much more.
In summer, the area comes alive with events like Raulandsbirken, fishing competitions, and excursions – with or without horses – from one of Norway’s most renowned riding centers.

Rauland is located in Vinje Municipality, the largest municipality in Telemark County, with an area of 3,117 km². It’s a classic mountain region, where 80% of the land lies above 800 meters above sea level. Vinje offers vast outdoor areas, with Hardangervidda being the largest and most well-known.

The E134 highway runs from Drammen to Haugesund and passes right by Åmot, just 10 km from Rauland. More than 1 million people live within a 3-hour driving radius of Rauland. With the new planned European route, the drive from Oslo to Rauland could take as little as 2.5 hours – or even less!

The E134 over Drammen and Haukelifjell makes Hardangervidda one of the most easily accessible high mountain areas in Norway.

Magical experiences – RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR!

In winter, Rauland is considered a snow-sure area, and Raulandsgrenda is beautifully situated with a surrounding landscape of majestic mountains, lakes, and hiking-friendly trails. In summer, Raulandsgrenda becomes an excellent destination for outdoor activities – arguably the best area in Rauland – offering a wide range of opportunities.

The large and scenic lake Totak is just a 4–5-minute walk from the cabin. Here you can swim, fish, go windsurfing, or enjoy a picnic – with or without a boat. The area toward Mjøsvatn is a beloved destination for both hiking and hunting. A local riding center offers riding courses and guided horseback tours. The popular cycling event Raulandsbirken highlights how the area is also well-suited for cyclists.

Right outside your cabin, you'll find a local swimming spot and grill area – perfect for both children and adults. It’s a great spot for informal gatherings and relaxing evenings.

All of this in a fairytale-like, scenic, and sunny cabin area.
